1/2 Lease Horses Available at Playland!

Good Morning!

As we head into winter time, we wanted to let everyone know about some wonderful horses available at Playland for 1/2 lease on the farm.  And yes, that means use of our radiant-heated barn and bright indoor arena!

Our half lease program is $250.00/month for 12 rides (3 rides a week) and one free hauling off the property per month.  The participant must be in regular lessons (minimum of two lessons per month). Lesson fees are not included in half lease, nor is that ride considered one of the 12 rides/month.

Contessa:
Arab pony 14 h mare.  Contessa has been competing at the BN level with a young rider.  She is a particularly well suited for a young rider that is ready to get a little more serious about learning to ride.  Quiet and easy to handle both on ground and under saddle - yet will make you work for it just enough under saddle to teach you how to be effective in tack without breaking your confidence.

Queenie:
IDSH mare 15.1h  is a been there seen that kind of mount.  Perfectly suited for the beginner rider or timid rider to gain confidence on under saddle.  She has competed through Novice level eventing and even schools some Training level XC obstacles.

Indy:
IDSH mare 15.2h is extremely sweet and quiet mare.  She is especially talented in teaching riders to learn how develop contact under saddle.  She has been competed in dressage through training level and evented BN/Novice level.  She is quiet and patient with her riders.  Excellent for adult amateurs or young riders.

Millie:
IDSH mare 16.3h  is a very quiet mare.  She was professionally trained in Florida and competed through Training level eventing with consistently being in the ribbons!  She has found a forever home at Playland as one of our school horses.  She is great for the taller serious rider that wants to learn how to event.

Catching Up on a Few Things!

Good Morning Everyone!!

Things at Playland have been extremely busy lately!

First, we would like to "officially" welcome Laura to Playland Farm! Laura is at Playland furthering her equine education as a groom for Glenda. We are happy to have her on board!

Second, we wanted to remind everyone that currently, the Stephen Bradley Clinic on December 6th is full. However, this doesn't mean that you still can't attend as an auditor. We would love to have you come out to the farm to watch and learn from Stephen! And remember, auditing is FREE!

Also we would like to send a quick congratulations to Caroline Carney with PL Cha Cha who finished their eventing season 5th in the Open Novice division at Full Moon Farm's Horse Trials this past weekend!

We hope everyone has a great week!

PS- Don't forget that Playland has some wonderful horses available for 1/2 lease on the farm! We have a horse for every size and skill rider so be sure to check out our website for more information!

Waredaca Training Three-Day Competition

Last week, Glenda took homerbed PL Irish Pearl to Waredaca Farm for their annual Three-Day competition. This competition is unlike any others throughout the year, as it resembles the old, long-format of eventing. What is the long format you may ask? The traditional long format includes four phases of endurance: Phase A--Roads and tracks (walking and trotting); Phase B-- Steeplechase (galloping over about eight steeplechase fences); Phase C--Roads and Tracks (walk and trot as a cool down); and Phase D, cross country.

Glenda and Pearl scored a 38.3 in dressage, and then successfully completed the other phases of roads and tracks, steeplechase and cross country, with only a few minor time penalties. Then, they went on to jump a double-clear show-jumping round to finish off the competition in 10th place overall!

We are really proud of both Glenda and Pearl and can't wait to see where they compete next season!

Great Weekend for Playland Horses!

Good Morning,

This past Saturday was the Maryland Horse Trials #3 held in Adamstown, Maryland. Glenda took Pearl and Clover to compete, and did very well! Both girls were fantastic and although Pearl was 'a little too big for britches' she still pulled out a lovely dressage test and two double-clear rounds in stadium and cross-country in the Open Training division, giving her a 7th place finish. Up next for Pearl is the Waredaca Farm Three-Day starting next week! We are so excited for her as she continues to progress and do well in competitions.

Glenda also competed Clover in the Open Beginner Novice division and had a fantastic end to her season with clean jumping rounds and her best dressage test to-date! Glenda is very proud of her and how far she has come in such a short amount of time.

On Sunday, Glenda took several students to the Woodstock Equestrian Park in Beallsville, MD to practice some cross-country schooling! They showed up in-style in the new Playland Farm trailer and all of the horses were wonderful. Everyone had a fun time and is looking forward to their next outing!

Thanks Maya for these photos!

Weekly Show Results are In and a Great Horse Still for Lease!

Good afternoon!

This past weekend, Glenda took PL Irish Pearl to compete in another Training-level division at Morven Park Horse Trials in Leesburg, Virginia. They rode in the Open Training division which had over 20 horses entered and took 8th place with a double-clear cross-country round and only one rail in stadium jumping. Way to go Glenda and Pearl!

Also, at the Windridge Farm Fall Horse Trials in Mooresboro, NC Olivia White rode PL Lucky Valentine and finished in 5th in the Beginner Novice-B division.  Nice job!

On another note, one of Playland's boarder's horses is for lease on-farm. Coy is an 11-year-old Quarter Horse for lease. He is very gentle and easy-going, and is perfect for trail riding or low-level eventing. She is asking $150/month to lease him. Contact Angela Nicole Bladen at (240) 482-9536 if you or someone you know is interested!

Weekly show results: Surefire Horse Trials

Good afternoon Bloggers!

This past weekend, several Playland horses competed at the Surefire Horse Trials in Purcellville, Virginia so we wanted to share with you the results. Virginia Strench competed with her own Black Diamond and finished 11th in the Open Novice-D division. Olivia White rode PL Lucky Valentine and finished 3rd in the Open Beginner Novice-A division. Glenda also took PL Irish Pearl and competed in the Open Training-A division, but had a little miscommunication and a stop which landed them in 13th place.  Pearl still has some learning to do, but Glenda knows what she needs to work on with her now and ready to tackle it!
